I'm Katie and I've lived in Stamford now for 16 years. I have loved arts and crafts since I was very young and I am very lucky to be able to spend my time doing what I love, creating art in a variety of ways. I love to paint and mainly use watercolour creating whimsical art. I also enjoy creating with polymer clay making different unique jewellery pieces and framed art. I love sunflowers and they, along with other beautiful flowers, feature a great deal in my work.

Alongside other artists I will be exhibiting at The Place Stamford and also working on various pieces of art, including creating Klimt style polymer clay pieces.

I see art and all the forms it takes as a never ending journey of discovery, expression and escapism. I paint and draw with a variety of mediums and am always happy to try something new. In addition, I also make jewellery using mainly silver and copper. I would describe myself as quite eclectic in thought and style, taking inspiration from life to convey a message through art that evokes an emotive reaction.

DEE-ZYN JEWELLERY - HAND DESIGNED UNIQUE JEWELLERY
Dee-zyn Jewellery was created by myself Deanne Echarri back in 2008. I have been designing and creating silver jewellery for over 15 years now. After completing a silversmith course back in 2010, I decided to explore PMC (precious metal clay) and completed a diploma in this... However, I still felt as though I was not quite there with what I wanted to produce.

Finally I found Wire Sculpture Jewellery, creating twists and swirls to shape and form the wire to encase gemstones within, thus creating completely unique one-of-a-kind pieces using only wire and small tools. NO soldering!!!

Consequently I fell completely in love with this, and went on to complete 6 Master Class Courses learning the skills and techniques needed to become an expert in the field.

As a result, I now design and craft quality silver and copper wire jewellery using precious and semi-precious stones from around the world. Each piece is unique and crafted by hand using master wire sculpting techniques.

I am an international seller, selling online as well as at craft fayres, wedding fayres, trade fayres and galleries.

DEE-ZYN WIRE JEWELLERY SCHOOL
Dee-zyn Jewellery also runs a Wire Jewellery School, empowering other people to have a go and learn to create their own beautiful jewellery using the same techniques that I fell in love with. There are many different workshops and courses, providing the knowledge and physical skills needed to create different styles of jewellery.

My motto is that 'everyone can make jewellery' which I wholeheartedly believe. The classes are suitable for all ages and abilities from complete beginners to those looking at learning new techniques or brushing up on their former jewellery making skills. Almost all classes run on weekday evenings and weekends and prices start from just £10.

Dee-zyn Jewellery School is a fast growing independent jewellery training centre based in Peterborough, Cambridgeshire. With over 30 classes running each year from beginners to Masterclass, there are plenty to choose from. The classes are run from our fully-equipped jewellery studio in a beautiful garden setting. There is something at Dee-zyn Jewellery School for everyone.

My jewellery combines silver, enamel and semi precious stones, taking inspiration from the fen landscape and beyond. Visitors are very welcome to visit my workshop but it's advisable to check before travelling and make an appointment if possible.

I teach mosaic making workshops for beginners and those wanting to improve an existing skill-details can be found on my artists page on the Unique Studios website.

I trained as an artist/designer and now simply love designing and making jewellery. The excitement comes from working in a variety of materials... glass, copper, silver, polymer clay and semi-precious gems stones. I also take great pleasure in working and developing ideas with textiles and mixed media. My garden and the natural world offer me great inspiration.

I label myself as an artist and  maker as I believe this sums up my work totally. I have been stitching ever since I could hold a needle. I work in textiles and mixed media taking inspiration from nature and what I see around me. I love combining different techniques and materials to include beading, collage and both hand and free machine embroidery. I like to experiment and enjoy learning different ways of working and also find joy in helping and teaching others to find their own way within craft and art.
Fabric forms the base of much of my work along with stitch and embellishments to create art works based on nature.  My work is continually evolving and changing and now experimenting with goldwork embroidery. I also manipulate fabric and stitch to create wearable art, continually developing processes for unique items.

Over the past year I have developed more time with bead work incorporating goldwork embroidery. I am still basing work on natural forms with the use of colour and texture in the forefront of my work. It is a time consuming process as each bead is sewn on individually to form wearable pieces of art, in this case brooches.

This year I have been working on more 3D, free standing creatures. This is a work in progress trying to magic fabric from something that resembles ‘road kill’ into a beautiful, dazzling frog! He is now resplendent in his jewelled body.

Over the last couple years I have also discovered a love of drawing realistic animal portraits with coloured pencils and have had a degree of success in this working on commissions from photos. These portraits can take up to 20 hours to complete. I find that this slow, careful process is good for the mind and soul and I can easily find I miss meals when working on one.

I have always spent time making things. As a child I made doll's clothes after learning to knit and sew alongside my  mother. As an adult I continued to make clothes, bags and jewellery. At Teacher Training College my personal study subject was ceramics. Skills I acquired back in the seventies are now in full use again in my work with metal clay.

I started making silver jewellery in 2009 when I embarked on a City & Guilds Silver Jewellery Making course. It wasn't long before I discovered silver metal clay. What an amazing material; I couldn't believe my luck - to be able to make pieces in clay, fire them and they turn into metal...fine silver. Wow! This material has inspired me!

I specialise in making free-form hollow beads and many of my pieces contain one or more of these bespoke beads. I use silver metal clay to make pendants and also charms for earrings and bracelets in conjunction with sterling silver wire and sheet.

I make jewellery that I would like to wear myself and what a joy to create striking individual pieces that others love too!
