My art is about noticing. I see something - if it lingers I give it voice through acrylics, collage, digital, animation, photography and poetry.

Fabric forms the base of much of my work along with stitch and embellishments to create art works based on nature.  My work is continually evolving and changing and now experimenting with goldwork embroidery. I also manipulate fabric and stitch to create wearable art, continually developing processes for unique items.

This year I have developed more time with bead work incorporating goldwork embroidery. I am still basing work on natural forms with the use of colour and texture in the forefront of my work. It is a time consuming process as each bead is sewn on individually to form wearable pieces of art, in this case brooches.

About Kathryn...

I am a visual story teller and mixed media artist, I weave together tales of people, places and the natural world.  My work is research-based, project-based and driven by curiosity and a love of exploring.

The materials I choose to use depends on the story to be told; from miniature moths made from natural treasures to porcelain corals.

I am Artist in Residence with Langdyke Countryside Trust.

Exhibitions, Events & Workshops...
My work has been exhibited at The Victoria and Albert Museum, The National Centre for Craft & Design (solo and group exhibitions), Woodwalton Fen, and as site specific interventions at Burghley House, John Clare Cottage, Northampton Museum and Derby Museum.  Please see my website for more information about exhibitions, events and workshops.

Artivity is an art school in Market Deeping for children and young people, and each year as part of Open Studios we have a celebratory exhibition of our talented students' work! We offer quality term time art tuition, holiday workshops and Arts Award courses for 4-16 year olds, and our classes are designed to complement the Early Years and Key Stage 1-4 art curriculum. We work with small groups, covering a wide variety of arts activities including drawing, painting, collage, sculpture, printmaking and textiles. Our aim is to inspire and enable creative children and young people in the Deepings and surrounding areas to further their engagement with the arts. Come along and see what we've been up to!
