Currently enjoying the process of linocut printing, monotypes and screen printing on paper and textiles from her home studio in Market Deeping Dehlia has displayed her work at venues across the country, including, most recently, the prestigious Hepworth Gallery Wakefield. Taking her inspiration from what excites and interests her in her surroundings, Dehlia's  sketches and drawings form the basis of designs that are transferred onto lino, carved and printed by hand. Dehlia is an experienced teacher offering classes and tutorials, which can be discussed on your visit. The garden is open and refreshments offered.

I have been creating for many years. I graduated from the University of Life Sciences in Poland. There I began to see the beauty in nature. I started designing gardens. I have painting deep in my soul, and I started painting here in England. I see joy in a colorful garden and want to bring the same mood to the gardens. Many call my style as close to Abstract Impressionism. During my studies, I began to explore Europe in search of inspiration. The German Black Forest, the French Montmartre in Paris, vast fields of tulips in the Netherlands, the Basque culture in San Sebastian, the world of art galleries in London, and finally, the artistically sensitive society of Artists in Peterborough - all of this influenced my charming way of treating colors as a reflection of my mood at the moment. Painting is one of the elements of the sensitive person's environment. Added to it are the plants in the garden, their scent and shape. Sculptures upon which a curious robin always perches, showing off its reddish breast. And woven into all of this are the Lilliput Line cottages, which I collect - completing the enchantment. I invite you to visit my paradise.The mentioned painting works best in the environment of people seeking tranquility and understanding of their surroundings and themselves. In the disorderly colors and techniques, they can find their own memories and solace for their souls. That's why over 20 of my paintings are a constant therapeutic element on the walls of the Central Medical Centre in Peterborough. They immerse patients in contemplation and surprise. Such is also the aim of my life: to provide people with art in a form that makes them feel good. Valued and much missed member, the late Sue Keen was an artist and maker and had stitched ever since she could hold a needle. For many years Sue was on the committee of Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios and she exhibited with PAOS for well over a decade. Sadly Sue passed away last year, and it’s at the wish of her daughter Kerry that some of Sue’s work will be shown during PAOS for one last time. Her work in textiles and mixed media took inspiration from nature and what she saw around her. Her love of combining different techniques and materials included beading, collage and both hand and free machine embroidery. She liked to experiment and enjoyed learning different ways of working and also found joy in helping and teaching others to find their own way within craft and art. Sue’s work will be on display at her friend Prue Pye’s venue.  Any money raised from sales of Sue’s work will be donated to charity. In Sue's own words: 'Fabric forms the base of much of my work along with stitch and embellishments to create art works based on nature. I also manipulate fabric and stitch to create wearable art, continually developing processes for unique items. I have developed bead work incorporating goldwork embroidery. I am still basing work on natural forms with the use of colour and texture in the forefront of my work. Inspired by true tales of nature, place, history & people.  I create sculptures and other artworks that share little-known stories of nature and place, working alongside wildlife charities, experts and museums. My work is research-based, often shown on-site, and I select the materials and techniques that best tell the story.  I also create beautiful handmade treasures for people's homes, and run workshops that nurture creativity and delight in nature. Currently Artist in Residence with Langdyke Countryside Trust, much of the work you'll find in this year's Open Studio is inspired by Langdyke's nature reserves and the wider 'John Clare Countryside'. For the last two years, the site of an ancient forgotten meadow has been the focal point of this work - Westings Meadow is now a place of nature reserves and gravel extraction. Neolithic families once gathered here and Victorian poet John Clare walked and wrote about this place. If you can't come to any of my Open Studio dates, please get in touch to try and find another time.   Exhibitions & Awards... I have exhibited at The National Centre for Craft & Design (solo and group exhibitions), and created site-specific artworks for Burghley House, University of Leicester, John Clare Trust, Derby Museum’s porcelain gallery and on nature reserves. In 2012 one of my artworks was selected for “Inspired by…” exhibition at the Victoria and Albert Museum, London. I'm a selected member of ArtCan,  Artist in Residence with Langdyke Countryside Trust and member of GroundWork NetWork based at GroundWork Gallery, Norfolk.
