Visit artist's studios and venues in Peterborough and the surrounding areas

Fiona Cumberpatch

A love of gardening and my job as a freelance garden journalist are the inspiration for my paintings, prints and textile designs, which are usually based around plants and flowers. I love colour, and this is always reflected in my work, as I think it can be very uplifting. I have paintings (oils and Japanese watercolours), prints, cards and a range of organic cotton tea towels. The colourful theme continues in my small town garden in the middle of Stamford where I try to grow as many flowers as I can fit in.

At this year’s open studio, I’ll be serving coffee, tea, cold drinks and some delicious homemade cakes. Last year the coffee and walnut sponge, lemon polenta cake and mixed berry slices were the best sellers. Donations for refreshments, on a pay as you feel basis, will go to the Crohn’s & Colitis UK charity. Visitors are very welcome to sit and enjoy our tiny garden, which I have redesigned and planted recently. Last year it was very popular and I was delighted to see so many people.

A new tea towel design underway, inspired by my colourful collection of car boot jugs.

I’ll be opening on Saturday and Sunday of the first weekend of PAOS, and Sunday of the second weekend. Please do join me and the other artists in Stamford who are opening their doors. You will be very welcome.

I’m inspired to paint and draw by English country gardens, small town gardens, allotments, walled gardens, secret gardens, and my visits to Kew Gardens.

I post about my garden visits, my UK travels, paintings, sketches and my planting experiments regularly on my instagram account @fionacumberpatch
