A Scottish artist specialising in painting, drawing and printmaking.
My work is largely figurative, I use symbolism and depictions of the every day to tell stories and communicate ideas. I am interested in what can be read and implied from an object, a face or a place and the resulting assumptions and imagined narrative. During the first lockdown I began to explore portraiture in different forms, rediscovering acrylic paint, I tried to communicate something of the personality of the subject. I have since continued to use acrylic paints to depict more ambitious compositions and narratives, alongside daily drawing. I take inspiration from current affairs, popular culture, my own experiences, music, literature and art itself – often depicting or referencing other artists and artworks.
