Through her unique drawing style, printmaking and painting Yasmin C Bradley expresses her delight in discovering extraordinary stories of people and places. Her long-adopted home is Folksworth, a small village located, however, close to a junction with the mighty Great North Road, the Great Fen project and Peterborough's historical county, Northamptonshire. I paint landscapes and portraits in traditional style in acrylic and watercolour. I'm experimenting towards oils too! After a career in commerce, I am starting out as I always wanted as an artist. Learning all the time. That also means I need to try new things out so I enjoy abstract work too. But my main buzz is in accuracy of depiction, not for everyone but it is my touchstone. My landscapes are often local scenes of our wonderful rural landscape. Sometimes ancient churches are depicted, mellow and nestled after hundreds of years in their village setting. Water colour and Mixed Media I began my watercolour journey during lockdown, through online tutorials. (Thank you to Jean Haines).   I’m inspired by colours, light and texture, and constantly searching for the best way to depict them on paper. I never tire of watching the unpredictable nature of these pigments as they react with water.   I prefer to paint without any preliminary pencil sketch, letting the painting dictate what is needed. RH Prints aka Ruth Hudson is an experimental print maker and painter. Her original linocuts are printed on an 1856 lithograph press from her home studio in Stamford. After studying Combined Arts at Newcastle University, Ruth went on to train at the Chelsea School of Art and the Leicester Print Workshop. Her work is influenced by her previous career working in Interior and fashion magazine production. She is inspired by German Abstract Expressionism and Bauhaus Aesthetics. Ruth has produced prints of many local landscapes including Burghley House, Normanton Church, Oakham Market Square and distinctive buildings in an around Stamford. Ruth uses the 'reduction' method of printmaking, favoured by Pablo Picasso who coined the term 'suicide printing'. Her work is often bold and graphic and hopes to reflect current trends and, quietly, offer a form of social commentary. Ruth also holds Beginners lino print workshops throughout the year. A love of gardening and my job as a freelance garden journalist are the inspiration for my paintings, prints and textile designs, which are usually based around plants and flowers. I love colour, and this is always reflected in my work, as I think it can be very uplifting. I have paintings (oils and vibrant Japanese watercolours), prints, cards and a range of organic cotton tea towels in five different designs. The colourful theme continues in my small town garden in the middle of Stamford where I try to grow as many flowers as I can fit in.   At this year's open studio, I'll be serving coffee, tea, cold drinks and some delicious homemade cakes. Last year the coffee and walnut sponge, lemon polenta cake and mixed berry slices were best sellers. Donations for refreshments, on a pay as you feel basis, will go to the Crohn's & Colitis UK charity. Visitors are welcome to sit and enjoy our tiny garden, which I have redesigned and planted recently. Last year it was very popular and I was delighted to see so many people. Welcome to Open Studios 2024. I'm exhibiting with Jeni Cairns and we can't wait to see you. Life has no meaning for me without creativity. Illustration is what I love. For the past ten years I've sat on hundreds of Peterborough benches illustrating life as it happens. I'm a bit obsessed but love it. My work is very loose, illustrative and distinctive. 2024 will see my 10th Anniversary of my first Bench View illustration so please celebrate with me and I'm also in the middle of a new series of bench views so there will be lots to see and talk about. I have been creating for many years. I graduated from the University of Life Sciences in Poland. There I began to see the beauty in nature. I started designing gardens. I have painting deep in my soul, and I started painting here in England. I see joy in a colorful garden and want to bring the same mood to the gardens. Many call my style as close to Abstract Impressionism. During my studies, I began to explore Europe in search of inspiration. The German Black Forest, the French Montmartre in Paris, vast fields of tulips in the Netherlands, the Basque culture in San Sebastian, the world of art galleries in London, and finally, the artistically sensitive society of Artists in Peterborough - all of this influenced my charming way of treating colors as a reflection of my mood at the moment. Painting is one of the elements of the sensitive person's environment. Added to it are the plants in the garden, their scent and shape. Sculptures upon which a curious robin always perches, showing off its reddish breast. And woven into all of this are the Lilliput Line cottages, which I collect - completing the enchantment. I invite you to visit my paradise.The mentioned painting works best in the environment of people seeking tranquility and understanding of their surroundings and themselves. In the disorderly colors and techniques, they can find their own memories and solace for their souls. That's why over 20 of my paintings are a constant therapeutic element on the walls of the Central Medical Centre in Peterborough. They immerse patients in contemplation and surprise. Such is also the aim of my life: to provide people with art in a form that makes them feel good. Welcome to my Art Living in the Fens I am surrounded by the geometry, shapes and colours of the flat plains of the landscape which often feature in my art. I work across many mediums, including watercolour, acrylics and collage; all of which can be viewed on my website. 'Reclaim' Project Every single work of art ever made in the World has been influenced by images and ideas that came before it. ‘Reclaim’ is a series of artworks comprising acrylic painting and collage on rustic reclaimed wood, incorporating recycled steel, discarded garden ornaments, preloved jewellery and found items from the local landscape. Something is created, nothing is destroyed, everything is transformed Saving the planet one piece of art at a time. I am a self taught artist and enjoy creating figurative art and landscapes. Mostly working in oil paints and pastels, I also love using new mediums. My art is constantly evolving, and I like experimenting with various effects that invoke emotions and bring back memories. I'm really interested in human connections and physical body shapes, exploring a wide range of issues with a distorted sense of realism. I paint using texture and colour, working with oils, mediums and different surfaces  I have studied with award winning artist, Martin Kinnear, exploring classical and modern oil painting, referencing painters throughout history to discover how they created their work. This year I am exhibiting with THE DEEPFORD ARTISTS  at the Bainton Reading Room. Selected to participate in this exhibition Peterborough. Motherhood and Feeling Safe, collage and oils on canvas Pleased to be included in this Cambridge exhibition, Trio, oil on board My study of Gustav Klimt, Portrait of Maria Munk These are my studies of “girl in a green dress” by Gwen John and “ old man” by Rembrandt. Fundamentally my work is all about drawing and mark making; I find it difficult to separate myself from their vitality and importance whether I choose painting, collage, printmaking - or a mixture of the three, ‘Drawing’ is what it continues to be about. ‘Drawing’ with a paintbrush or in collage ‘drawing’ with shapes of paper and colour. Setting in motion the development of an idea plus a sense of renewal and continuation. Exclusively for Open Studio 2024 'Postcard Exhibition' A collection of postcard size pieces in a variety of media with hidden stories and secrets. Julie was awarded as one of the six winners in the 41st Mini Print International de Cadaquès 2021/22. The exhibition in Cadaquès Catalunya, has been running for over 40 years and brings together works from over 640 artists worldwide who each submit 4 pieces of work using printmaking and it's tendencies. As a winner Julie was given a solo exhibition in Gallery Taller Fort in the beautiful town of Cadaquès, famously the home of Dali and a draw to artists from across the globe.The exhibition which ran throughout August 2022 was a great success and & she will be showing similar pieces at her open studio exhibition this Julie says, "I am delighted to be, once again, opening my studio, garden & home gallery this year The Miniprint win meant an awful lot to me and I am really excited to share similar works and the process behind the making of them in my studio" Julie's work is shown and collected internationally

  An experimental artist who loves to capture light and colour, using a variety of media. My paintings are inspired by my surroundings which are captured in a loose and free style. Some of my work is in an abstract style which allows me to experiment with texture, shape and moods. Valued and much missed member, the late Sue Keen was an artist and maker and had stitched ever since she could hold a needle. For many years Sue was on the committee of Peterborough Artists’ Open Studios and she exhibited with PAOS for well over a decade. Sadly Sue passed away last year, and it’s at the wish of her daughter Kerry that some of Sue’s work will be shown during PAOS for one last time. Her work in textiles and mixed media took inspiration from nature and what she saw around her. Her love of combining different techniques and materials included beading, collage and both hand and free machine embroidery. She liked to experiment and enjoyed learning different ways of working and also found joy in helping and teaching others to find their own way within craft and art. Sue’s work will be on display at her friend Prue Pye’s venue.  Any money raised from sales of Sue’s work will be donated to charity. In Sue's own words: 'Fabric forms the base of much of my work along with stitch and embellishments to create art works based on nature. I also manipulate fabric and stitch to create wearable art, continually developing processes for unique items. I have developed bead work incorporating goldwork embroidery. I am still basing work on natural forms with the use of colour and texture in the forefront of my work. Looking forward to welcoming you back to PAOS 2024 Decorative and functional ceramics and evocative semi-abstract paintings will be on display. My paintings and ceramics investigate structures, shapes and colours inspired by our natural world. The detail and pattern often overlooked in our busy lives is of special interest. I love how texture allows a play of light and shadow on the surfaces of my work. My aim is not to attempt to mimic nature but rather describe the qualities of a subjective experience intuitively, thereby encouraging the viewer to ‘feel’ their own interpretation of what they see in my work. My garden has become a bigger canvas for my artistic expression and is open for you to explore and enjoy. Delicious homemade treats available which can be enjoyed in the picturesque garden where mosaic will be on display. Proceeds from refreshments donated to Sue Ryder. “Hand-building clay into objects inspired by nature’s forms and structures is an extension of my textured, atmospheric painting". I strive to create a beauty in imperfect harmony known in Japanas Wabi Sabi: Enjoying the moment and life’s simple pleasures...I hope these hand-built objects bring simple pleasure. Sea, Sky and lanscape inspire my work. These richly textured  and atmospheric paintings are semi abstract and expressionistic. Abstracted landscapes described in sweeps and blocks of colour are also a favoured subject. "My wanting to paint is a wanting to explore the ordinary and extraordinary of humanness. Drawing or painting in ways that communicate or speak of recognition and familiarity." Collaged pieces have become a renewed addition to my current work. I use painted pieces torn from my own work, or monoprints prepared on tissue. These torn pieces are added and worked over or through into the background usually towards an abstracted landscape   About Prue Born and raised in Africa, my fine art studies as a mature student led me to discover and develop life paintings with a contemporary feel. A need to express myself in colour gave me a language in paint. I had taught botanical studies and the modelling of flowers for many years and these tiny, fragile pieces later     turned to the direction of larger, expressive painting. I paint mainly in oils and acrylics and inspiration comes mostly from places I have visited in the UK and abroad. I prefer variety in what I do but, however hard I try to vary my work and not have a "style", I always revert back to landscapes.  I do like to have fun with the occasional abstract, though. Visitors can expect a warm welcome at our Open Studios weekends. We like to provide a friendly atmosphere while you enjoy the art and garden and maybe even a glass of Pimms!

I'm a children's book author and illustrator- I work predominantly in watercolour, soft pastel and collage, and love to draw animals! My eighth book, Balancing Bernie, features lots of dogs, and was published in November 2021 by Hodder Children's Books. Having spent much of my time at school doodling covertly on the last pages of my exercise books, I went on to complete a degree in Graphic Design at Bath Spa University, specialising in illustration, followed by a Master’s degree in Children’s Book Illustration at Cambridge School of Art. After graduating in 2007, I began to write and illustrate picture books alongside teaching art classes in a primary school, during which I invariably managed to get more paint on myself than the children did! Now fully freelance, I create books and run children’s art classes from my studio (see Artivity), ably assisted by my basset hound, William.   My work is very diverse in subject matter and I work in a variety of mediums such as pencils, charcoal, pastels, oils and watercolour. The majority of my art being self-taught but I also undertook some formal fine arts training at the London Guildhall University. Originally trained as a graphic designer, I worked in the music industry producing record sleeves and printed materials for a period that exceeded 20 years. Almost half of this time spent managing my own graphic studio.   Since my first solo exhibition in 2008 I have been showing my work regularly and is pro-active in promoting and documenting local art in Peterborough.
